Book Festival Round-up
Theatre-interests at the Edinburgh International Book Festival
Although the main draw at the Book Festival for theatregoers is undoubtedly the magnetic This Is Memorial Device, there are also always plenty of other performances of interest.
This Is Memorial Device
★★★★☆ Phantasmagoric realism
The Lyceum’s extraordinary run of success at this year’s festivals continues with This Is Memorial Device, their collaboration with the Book Festival.
Playing With Books – the Yellow Door
The last of this year’s Playing With Books events at the Book Festival was a singular piece. The Yellow Door was even more of a ‘work in progress’ than is usual for the strand as it is not yet even a book. I
Playing With Books – the Long Drop
..and other recent Book Festival events
The Book Festival continues in its new home at the Edinburgh College of Art on Lauriston Place, and also continues to offer events of interest to theatre-goers.
Playing With Books – Sea State
Theatre returns to the Book Festival
Playing With Books, the collaboration between the Book Festival and the Lyceum, has returned in the Book Festival’s new ‘hybrid’ format. Edinburgh International Book Festival 2019 Final Round-up:
The Edinburgh International Book Festival 2019 closed with its customary eclectic selection of events a remarkably prescient glitch and a Playing with Books presentation that showed exactly what such an adaptation can do.
Playing With Books
A Charlotte in Charlotte Square – and more
The Book Festival’s Playing with Books strand continues to delight and tantalise audiences in the Charlotte Square Spiegeltent.
At the Book Festival
Theatrical life in Charlotte Square:
The Edinburgh international Book Festival continues to provide a commitment to theatrical elements as well as the customary squelchy grass and ice-cream cones.
Shows preceding the end of the fest
Hugh’s final BookFest Round-up for 2018
Autumn always seems to time its arrival to coincide with that of the Book Festival, with the rain limiting opportunities for the simple pleasures of sitting in Charlotte Square Gardens with a book and some refreshment. However, there were plenty of opportunities for those interested in theatre to sit inside instead.
A Spark of Philosophy
Muriel Spark at the Book Festival:
This year’s Book Festival has featured several events designed to appeal to the theatre-goer which cross over with the strand celebrating the centenary of the birth of Edinburgh’s own Muriel Spark.
