Carmen Pieraccini
Future Acts
★★★★☆ Pleasingly varied
Future Acts is an intriguing programme of future-facing short films commissioned by the National Theatre of Scotland, playing in a short run of one-off performances in cinemas across the country before airing on BBC digital platforms next year.
Mayflies
★★★★☆ Sparkling
Grid Iron’s site-specific Mayflies is in part a massively spirited hymn to the youth culture of the 1980s. But you don’t have to have lived through that decade to appreciate such a melancholy yet defiantly bright production.
Keli – an audio drama
★★★★☆ Intense
Martin Green’s audio drama Keli, previewed earlier this month at the Lyceum, has arrived on the theatre’s Soundstage audio platform. While there is much that is odd about its presentation, it is an absolutely engrossing piece.
The Steamie
★★★★☆ Far from mince:
There is genuine warmth as well as hilarity in The Steamie, at the King’s until Saturday.
Steamie Cast Announced
Casting announced for Thirtieth anniversary tour
The full cast has been announced for the nine-week Autumn tour of The Steamie, which will play the Edinburgh King’s in November 2017.
Huxley’s Lab
★★★★☆ Profoundly relevant
A brave new collaboration has been born at Edinburgh University’s informatics building on Crichton Street. Edinburgh’s Lung Ha’s and Gridiron theatre companies have teamed up to create a piece of work challenging the scientists to think long and hard about what they are doing.
