EdFringe 2026
This Little Thing of Ours
★★★☆☆ Rumbustious
This Little Thing of Ours, from MB Musicals at theSpace @ Venue 45, is a slice of late-night entertainment whose scattergun approach largely pays off.
Carrie: The Musical
★★★★☆ Electrifying
Carrie: The Musical from the Edinburgh University Footlights at Paradise in Augustines is a gory and emotional adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, with music by Michael Gore and lyrics by Dean Pitchford.
Halfway Home
★★★☆☆ Fresh
There is something very apt in seeing Halfway Home, a new play by Deliverance Theatre, in its late-night slot. The characters are tired. Tired of working so hard, tired of the bureaucracies they need to deal with. Tired of being stuck
Room 1219
★★★★☆ Sympathetic
Room 1219, from Keystone Theatricals at theSpace @ Surgeons Hall for the middle week of the Fringe, is a reclamation of a Hollywood icon, carefully presented and gracefully acted.
The Powerpop Girls: A New Diva Religion
★★★☆☆ Fun-Filled
The Powerpop Girls: A New Diva Religion presented by Locked In Thought Theatre and featured at theSpace @ Niddry St, is a comedic workplace drama focussing on different pop icons.
Doctor Faustus
★★★★☆ Smartly staged
Doctor Faustus, presented as a staged reading for two performances only at St. John’s Episcopal Church as part of the Edinburgh Festival of the Sacred Arts, is a delight for Marlowe fans and newcomers alike.
Bull/Fight
★★★★☆ Intense
Bull/Fight at Summerhall throughout the Fringe is an elliptical piece of physical theatre that has real power.
Elizabeth I: Regina Vagina
★★★★★ Energetic
Elizabeth I: Regina Vagina from Old’n’Dead Productions packs in humour, music and more facts about the Tudors and Elizabeth I than you will ever need, in a peak-Fringe adults-only production.
Dune! The Musical
★★★★★ Professional Troubadour
Dune! The Musical is a masterclass in storytelling as Dan Collins crams an awesome amount of Frank Herbert’s expansive space opera into an hour.
Mother, Maiden and Crone
★★★★★ Queer excellence
An homage to the Edinburgh queer scene, Mother, Maiden and Crone, playing at Bedlam Theatre all Fringe, turns Macbeth into an uproarious farcical comedy about a hen do gone wrong at a struggling gay bar.
