New Celts Productions
My Romantic History
✭✭✭✭✩ Well timed:
Energetic, sharply funny and beautifully played, Hysterically Human and New Celts’ My Romantic History is an extremely entertaining production at theSpace on the Mile.
I Am Yours
★★☆☆☆ Unconvincing:
There is no shortage of talent or effort in I Am Yours, presented by Thin Line and New Celts at theSpace on the Mile, but some odd choices and uncertain casting make for an uneven production.
Some Voices
★★★☆☆ Emotive
Edgy and raw, but not always consistent, Some Voices from Spearhead Theatre and New Celts at theSpace on the Mile tackles difficult subject matters with humour and humanity.
Hoors
✭✭✭✩✩ Lacks sparkle
Some fine young performers feature in New Celts and Nook N’ Cranny’s production of Gregory Burke’s black comedy Hoors, but it never quite hits the heights.
Hemmed In
✭✭✩✩✩ Too limited:
There are some highly promising singers in New Celts and Lost Lock’s all-female musical Hemmed In, who are given real chances to shine in a production that is otherwise hampered by callowness and naïveté.
Death is the New Porn
✭✭✭✩✩ Adrenaline pumped
Intense and driven student company, Blazing Hyena (in association with New Celts Productions) stage a thoroughly professional production of Death is the New Porn at theSpace on the Bridge.
Lace Up
✭✭✭✭✩ Drama with punch
Expect blood, sweat and tears in this searing drama looking at the price a young boxer from Edinburgh is asked to pay on his way to the top.
Review – Lifting the Mask
Life in as a sex-trade worker and a travel monologue are pushed together in this underachieving new co-production between New Celts Productions and PromisKus Theatre.
