PBH’s Free Fringe
The Spider Witches of Appalachia
★★★☆☆ Well spun
The title of Spider Witches of Appalachia (at the Outhouse as part of the Free Fringe) might sound like a B-movie, but instead conceals a low-key but assured storytelling performance by Jenna Baer, who has devised, written and performed the piece.
Dune! The Musical
★★★★★ Professional Troubadour
Dune! The Musical is a masterclass in storytelling as Dan Collins crams an awesome amount of Frank Herbert’s expansive space opera into an hour.
More Songs For A (Brave) New World
★★★★☆ Charming
Richard Lewis dances into the Speakeasy at the Voodoo Rooms for a full run of the Fringe with More Songs For A (Brave) New World, a new set of musical parodies sure to make you laugh, groan, and look for more.
Liberace – In His Own Words
★★★★☆ Impressive technique
A well-crafted narrative and some stunning piano playing can be found in Liberace –In His Own Words, from Prima La Musica in the Ballroom at the Voodoo Rooms as part of PBH’s Free Fringe throughout all three weeks.
